Bay Area Sound Ecology is the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology (ASAE) and the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE).

We are currently forming, and invite any interested persons to join us. We draw members from a broad group - sound designers, radio producers, composers, musicians, bioacousticians, and simply humans who listen.

Please join us Wednesday May 14th 2008 for BASEbot Listening Salon 003.

BASEbot Listening Salon

BASEbot is an experiment in bringing people together around listening and the soundscape. It is envisioned as a meeting place for ear-minded people, and ultimately as a platform for soundscape oriented projects.

Our first listening salon took place November 28th, 2007 in San Francisco and featured noted field recordist Chris Watson presenting and discussing his work.

Our second listening salon took place January 30th, 2008 and featured field recordist Andrew Roth who shared a work in progress exploring the soundscapes of Japan in connection with Japanese literature.

We have produced recordings of these salons, which will be posted on our forthcoming podcast. If you'd like access now, please contact us at the below addresses.

Please join the BASE email list to stay apprised of upcoming events. This is a low-traffic list at this time.
